‘Pot Luck" sampler of the many aspects of Dog Training. From Search n Rescue to Retrieving/Tracking/Neat Tricks/Scent work/Jumping/CONFIDENCE Agility plus WHATEVER. WE'LL LET YOU CHOOSE. We want YOU to experience just WHAT you can do with your dogs. Maybe you'd like to know HOW to ride your bike with your dog, or maybe you want your Dog to learn how to pull a cart (with the Grandkids in it)... How about some CUTE TRICKS..OR HELPFUL BEHAVIORS (ie: carry a flashlight)
ADVANCED OBEDIENCE, TOUCH WORK , THERAPY TRAINING
To be a K9CAMPER the dog must have been in our OB. 101 or another such class.

ABOUT Classes
OBEDIENCE 101 aka. GOOD MANNERS CLASS
This is an 8 week class for Baby Puppy's (9 weeks and older) and ALL BEGINNER DOGS no matter the age. It is a great class for New Adopted dogs. In this class the dogs will learn how to behave when there are a lot of distractions (noise/kids/new places/other dogs). Dogs learn the basic commands of SIT-DOWN-STAND-STAY and how to walk politely on leash next to your side with NO pulling. And the ever popular COME WHEN CALLED..... Handler's (and family) learn how to be PACK LEADERS. Also general basic WELLNESS for the dog (teeth/nails/ears) as well as Nutrition and weight control (for the dog). Included is basic dog psychology, which is important and necessary when training. Ob.101 is a DO OVER CLASS. This means if you have a baby puppy, you probably will need to "do over class" at least one more time at some point in his young life. Any dog in this class is welcome to a DO OVER. This is NO CHARGE for do overs. You can come back/drop in, as many times as you want or need with the "same dog". Dogs enjoy it...We WANT you to succeed. WE incorporate the AKC STAR PUPPY into our 101 class.

AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN "CGC"
The purpose of the Canine Good Citizen Test is to ensure that our favorite companion,the dog can be a respected member of it's family and community. They should be trained to act mannerly in the home, in public places, and in the presence of other dogs. All dogs including mixed breeds are welcomed in the CGC program. There are10 exercises that dogs are tested on by a certified CGC examiner. Most of these we have dealt with in OB101.This class is two weeks of training for the test and on the third week the TEST is given. If you should not complete and pass all 10 exercises, you may RE DO the test at no addition fee.The 3 week course or you can come on week three and JUST take the test....Upon passing the test AKC will send a frame ready CGC Title Award for your Dog.
AKC OBEDIENCE (CD/CDX/UD)
These classes are for people who want to trial and compete with their dogs at AKC or UKC/CKC shows.In each division, CD,CDX,UD you must show in THREE shows under THREE Different Judges and get a score of 170 out of a possible 200 points. You start with 200 points and the Judge deducts points for errors. Every Exercise is worth a predetrimined amount of points. When you attend a show/trial and you pass it is called a LEG. You need 3 legs to get your degree.
COMPANION DOG CLASS (CD)
When you first show in obedience you start with CD work (Think of it as Grade School). The dogs must complete 6 exercises. HEEL ON LEASH & FIQURE 8/ STAND FOR EXAM/ HEEL FREE/ RECALL/ LONG SIT/ LONG DOWN.
COMPANION DOG EXCELLENT (CDX)
This would be the High School of Obedience. The dog must complete 7 exercises. points.
The exercises are more complex and are as follows: Heel Free and Figure Eight/
Drop on Recall/ Retrieve on Flat/ Retrieve over High Jump/ Broad Jump/ long sit and Long Down
(with handler out of sight)
UTILITY (UD)
This is the College degree of Obedience. There are 6 exercises all done OFF LEASH. The exercises
are as follows: The Hand Signal Exercise (stand-stay-drop-sit-come)/ Scent Discrimination/article 1 and Scent Discrimination article 2/ Directed retrieve (judge drops three gloves and you must direct your dog to pick up the one the judge tells you to and bring it back) Moving Stand for Examination and the Directed Jumping. There are a lot of parts to Utility work and it is totally done off leash with mostly hand signals, no voice commands.

OUR Classes are either group or private lessons in any of the above. The Basics are taught in OB 101
AGILITY/CONFIDENCE 101 (beginners)
Agility is a 8 week Summer class, .....However this class is geared for beginners and Baby Puppy's who are learning CONFIDENCE & CONTROL with all the equipment. We have equipment JUST for the baby puppy's or small dogs. This is also a solid class for dogs with "fear" problems. As Fear leads to aggression. Therefore if you get rid of the fear and replace confidence you also solve the aggression based problem. Dogs must have basic obedience to be worked "off leash" otherwise they must remain on leash. Baby Puppy's can be worked on a light leash. Agility works both the MIND and BODY of the dog. Even older dogs enjoy working and we can tailor the exercises to the physical ability of the Dog....
TRACKING
This class is for Beginning Trackers and also for more advanced trackers. It is a 5 week class and gives the Handler the tools to continue to improve his technique. This is footstep tracking and it is a natural thing for all dogs to do. It is a fun thing to do with your dog and may come in handy at some point, especially living up here in the Northwoods.

CLASSES IN THE SUMMER ARE HELD AT VILLAGE SHEEP FARM
11004 BLUE LAKE ROAD. MINOCQUA
This is a working Farm which means their are Sheep and Cows and Horses about. Please keep your Dog LEASHED unless you are IN the training building or IN the fenced Training area to the South of the Building. After Classes you MAY let your Dog run in the Fenced training area and if others are willing they can play with their classmates as long as YOU supervise. Clean Up Pooper Scoopers are placed around the training area, inside and out so please pick up after your dog. We have in the works a larger Park Area WHICH will be fenced where Dogs can run and play off leash but it is not completed at this time. CHECK with Patt or Colleen before you turn your dog loose and also check that gates are closed. If you bring children they must stay IN the training building or IN your vehicle. Being a working Farm, there are many dangers for children. Thank you for your cooperation.....
The S.T.A.R. Puppy is an exciting program designed to get dog owners and their puppies (one year and younger) off to a good start. STAR PUPPY is a natural lead into the AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN
{CGC} CERTIFICATION. Both StarPuppy and CGC is open to all dogs of any breed or any mix breed. We have incorporated the StarPuppy Program into our Obedience 101.
The Star Test is given along with OUR OB.101 Graduation Exam....
